Welcome to Brooklands Primary School

We are a small, values-led school where all children and families are welcomed and celebrated. We build strong relationships within and beyond our local community, investing in our children’s futures by providing an enriched and creative curriculum, taking advantage of our unique locality and inspiring a life-long love of learning.

Our curriculum is broad and holistic, focusing on developing high levels of executive function, independence and inquisitive learners. Our school site incorporates spacious grounds, a gardening area, a small orchard and a Forest School. We are very lucky to have this space and we believe that being active and spending time outside is incredibly important for children's development and wellbeing so we make the most of the space we have.

We recognise the value of play and all children have protected opportunities for play during breaks and lunchtimes. In EYFS and KS1, children learn through a hybrid of play within carefully planned continuous provision, adult-led focus groups, and whole class sessions.

We aim to provide all our children with the high-quality education and enrichment opportunities that they need, in order to develop the knowledge and skills (academic and personal) to take them into their next stage of education.

Teaching and learning is our core purpose and the main focus for all that we do . All our staff are responsible for teaching all our children everywhere around our school. Expectations and standards are high, and everyone is supported from their starting points.

We believe that our pupils must be taught the academic and personal skills necessary for them to thrive in their futures. Through our curriculum we aim to:

Develop inquisitive children, enabling them to be curious and aiding them with the skills to continually gain knowledge and more of an understanding of the world around them.
Ensure progression and readiness for the next stage of education.
Ensure pupils develop a love of learning.
To equip children to be able to deal with real life whether it be about finances, global warming etc.
